2-component epoxy primer that contains balanced quantities of component A and component B. In order tp ensure adherence to the freshly applied epoxy primer, add dry, type-1 quartz sand (grain size 0,32-0,71 mm).
As pre-treatment for Alfix Epoxy Membrane.
200-300 g/m2 + approx. 2,5 kg/m2 type-1 quartz sand (grain size 0,32-0,71 mm).
Appllication as concrete protection:
A total amount of 300-600 g/m2 + approx. 2,5 kg/m2 type-1 quartz sand (grain size 0,32-0,71 mm).
For casting around penetrations:
Approx. 1 kg/litre cavity in the substrate + approx. 1.4 kg Quartz sand type 10 (grain size 0.1 – 0.3 mm).
Alfix Epoxy Primer is delivered as a 10 kg container containing balanced quantities of component A and component B.
Type-1 quartz sand (grain size 0,32-0,71 mm) is available in 25 kg bags.

Application
Site-poured concrete and prefab elements older than 3 months.
Screed.
The cohesive strength must be a minimum of 1,5 N/mm2.
For other types af substrate, contact our Technical Service Department.
The surface should be dry, dimensionally stable, sound, clean and free from dust, grease, salts, laitance and efflorescence. There should also be no blooms or crack formations. Surface evenness of +/- 2 mm when using smoothing board, Residues from grease or soap can be removed with Alfix Deep Cleaner.
Component B is placed in an insert in the top of the bucket. Component A is at the bottom.
To mix the two components, pierce the black plastic lid at the top of the bucket with a strong, pointed metal
object 20–30 cm in length. At the same time, punch 4–8 holes in the bottom of the metal insert.
After 3–6 minutes, depending on the hole size at the bottom, the number of holes, and the product temperature,
the insert will be emptied.
Remove the plastic seal in the lid’s clamping ring, and then remove the clamping ring. Using the handle
on top of the bucket, carefully lift out the insert to ensure it has been emptied.
The epoxy mass is now mixed with a mixing paddle attached to a slow-speed drill.
Mixong time: Approximately 3 minutes.
As a system with Alfix Epoxy membrane: Apply the primer using a brush or a short-haired roller, use 200-300 g/m² and apply in an even layer to ensure full coverage. Sprinkle dry, type-1 quartz sand over the freshly applied Alfix Epoxy Primer until the entire surface area is saturated with sand.
As concrete protection or a moisture barrier: Apply two coats of the primer using a brush or a short-haired roller, use the equivalent of 100-300 g/m² to create an even layer that provides full coverage. No earlier than 12 hours - and no later than 5 days - aftes the final application, apply a second layer using the equivalent of 200-300 g/m². Then sprinkle dry, type-1 quartz over the freshly applied primer until the entire surface area is saturated with sand.
For casting around penetrations:
The ready-mixed primer is added with dry quartz sand type 10 to achieve a suitable consistency, but maximum 14 kg sand per 10 kg Epoxy Primer.
Working time
Approx. 35 minutes at + 20ºC.
NB
The substrate and working temperature should be between +10ºC and +30°C.
Avoid applying the product in direct sunlight.
Use methylated spirits to remove Alfix Epoxy Primer residue from tools and the like immediately after use.
Hardenen primer can only be removed by scraping.
