Brickwork, soft-moulded bricks: The surface should be dimensionally stable. Brickwork should appear
sound with compacted, filled joints. Prior to rendering, ensure that brickwork is completely cured and dry
with no blooms or efflorescence. For high- suction substrates, wet the brickwork prior to application.
Older, existing brickwork, soft-moulded bricks. The surface should be dimensionally stable, clean from
dust, mortar residues, grease, salt, fouling and other contaminations. Low pressure sand blasting may be
required. Use the smallest amount of water possible and leave the brickwork to dry.
In case of exterior use, a thin contact layer of Alfix DuraPuds 710 is recommended if the surface has a
low or limited absorbance capacity.
Brickwork made of machine-made bricks: Brickwork should appear sound with compacted, filled joints.
Prior to rendering, ensure that brickwork is completely cured and dry with no blooms or efflorescence.
Older, existing brickwork should be dimensionally stable, clean from dust, mortar residues, grease, fouling
and other contaminants.
Machine-made bricks or bricks with a low absorbance capacity should always be provided with a contact
layer of Alfix DuraPuds 710.
Aerated concrete, cement/sand rendering, concrete, light-weight concrete: For very absorbent interior
surfaces, such as aerated concrete, prime with Alfix PlaneMixPrimer diluted 1:6.
For exterior use, apply a thin contact layer of e.g. Alfix LetFix.
Boards, existing tiles and painted surfaces: A thin contact layer of for example Alfix LetFix or Alfix
DuraPuds 710 should be applied on the surface. Must dry until next day.
Add approx. 4.4 – 4.8 litres of clean, cold water per 20 kg powder. Pour water into a clean container, sprinkle in powder while stirring until a smooth paste is obtained. Leave the mixture to rest for a few minutes, and the mortar is ready for use.
Apply Alfix Durapuds 703 with steel float and spread in a thin layer. Leave to dry until the render no longer “sticks” when touched. Continue by rubbing and smoothing the surface with a sponge. To avoid visible lines of colour differences, it is recommended to finish each wall in one ongoing work process.
NB!
Additional water should not be added to a mixture already starting to set.
When using coloured finishing render, consistent water dosage and even final smoothing are crucial factors in order to obtain a good result.
Exterior rendering should only take place in dry weather at temperatures from +5°C - +25°C. Avoid direct sunlight. If rainy weather or temperatures below +5°C are forecast, cover surfaces. Avoid exterior rendering during winter.
Clean residues from tools with water before the mortar sets. Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, hence do not dispose of excess material by pouring into drainage system.
