Application
Surfaces
Concrete. Brickwork made of extruded/wirecut bricks and lime stone.
Light-weight concrete.Ceramic tiles.
For further information, please consult our Technical Services Dept.
Surface preparation
The surface should be dimensionally stable. Prior to rendering, the surface should be clean from dust, adhesive residues, loose particles, grease, salt, fouling and other contaminations. Depending on surface condition, dry or wet sandblasting may be required.
Prime highly absorbent substrates with Alfix PlaneMixPrimer diluted 1:6 with clean water.
How to use
Add approx. 3.6-4.0 litres of clean, cold water per 20 kg powder. Pour water into a clean container, sprinkle in powder while stirring until a smooth and workable consistency is obtained. Leave the mixture to rest for a few minutes and remix briefly before use.
Thin coat rendering on concrete, plinths and smooth, dense substrates. Apply Alfix Durapuds 710 to 10 mm onto the surface. Float and rub down the walls using wood float or sponge.
On a non-absorbent surface, the work should be carried out as a 2-layer treatment.
First, apply a contact layer of Alfix DuraPuds 710.
On the following day at the earliest, repeat application and complete rendering by floating and smoothing the surface.
Thin coat rendering on extruded/wirecut bricks. Alfix DuraPuds 710 is suitable as thin coat render on bricks. The work should be carried out as a 2-layer treatment. First, apply a contact layer of Alfix DuraPuds 710.
On the following day at the earliest, repeat application and complete rendering by floating and smoothing the surface.
Filling of deep or raked joints. Alfix DuraPuds 710 is suitable for filling joints in brickworks of a depth up to 10 mm while rendering. For depths exceeding 10 mm add 5 kg kiln dried quarts sand grain size 0.5 – 2.0 mm per 25 kg. Apply the mortar onto the entire surface by steel float and scrape off excess material. On the following day at the earliest, repeat application and complete rendering by floating and smoothing the surface.
Reinforcement with fibreglass mesh/matting. Alfix DuraPuds 710 is suitable for reinforcement with Alfix Fibreglass matting 6 x 6 mm on demanding substrates to avoid cracking. Apply the mortar to approx. 3-4 mm thickness. Push the mesh into the wet mortar by straight edged steel trowel. On the following day at the earliest, repeat application and complete rendering by floating and smoothing the surface.
NB!
Additional water should not be added to a mixture already starting to set.
Exterior rendering should only take place in dry weather at temperatures from +5°C - +25°C. Avoid direct sunlight. If rainy weather or temperatures below +5°C are forecast, cover surfaces. Avoid exterior rendering during winter.
Cleaning
Clean residues from tools with water before the morter sets. Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, hence do not dispose of excess material by pouring into drainage system.
